The new school year is quickly approaching and Kingsgate Center wants to make sure every child on the South Plains has what they need when they go back to school. That’s why we are teaming up with Sprouts and The Bridge of Lubbock for the Annual Kingsgate Center Backpack to School Drive.
Beginning July 20, through August 16, new or gently used backpacks can be donated to any of the drop off locations on the north and south sides of Kingsgate Center, located at 82nd Street and Quaker Avenue.
Donated backpacks will be filled with school supplies donated by Kingsgate Center and healthy snacks provided by Sprouts Farmers Market.
Filled backpacks will be donated to The Bridge of Lubbock and distributed at their annual Bridge Bash on August 22nd from 10am-2pm.
Bridge Bash provides clothing, uniforms, shoes and other back to school needs for at-risk youth and low income families. “To the at-risk youth of Lubbock and surrounding communities, a backpack can bring abundant amount of joy to a child and their family,” said Hillary Hilderbrand, Director of Operations. “Last year we were able to help 300 families.”
Backpacks may be dropped off at any of these participating businesses:
Kingsgate Center North: America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, Great Clips, J. Roberts and Marble Slab
Kingsgate Center South: Alterations Unlimited, Banana Republic, Malouf’s, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt and Sprout’s
