A Lubbock County grand jury indicted Jose Angel Simental, 20, for the murder of Mark Ysasaga. Mark was 15 in June of 2012 when he was reported missing. The case changed from a missing person to a murder when Simental was charged in mid-May.
Simental told a reporter in June that he was innocent but he stopped short of directly implicating someone else.
Mark’s body was found in early June near Highway 87 and 120th Street.
Simental was a roommate with Christian Castro in a residence in the 3100 block of 27th Street at the time of Mark’s disappearance. Castro was named as a person of interest but has not been charged as of this time.
This year police decided to reexamine the house. Blood evidence inside was sufficient to charge Simental.
