The United Family® and Mrs Baird’s Bread® recently held a banquet at the Texas Tech Club to recognize all the Teachers On The Rise winners who were selected during the 2014-2015 school year. Superintendents, winning teachers, and sponsors joined together to honor the hard working men and women dedicated to making our community a better place.
“We are extremely proud to honor these incredible teachers for their dedication and involvement in creating a brighter future for our youth,” said Shelby Crews, senior community relations manager for The United Family. “The Teachers On The Rise program is a crucial opportunity to recognize and reward educators who go above and beyond every day.”
The grand prize winner was Sue Thomas of Preston Smith Elementary School of Lubbock ISD, who won a $1200 prize package. The banquet was presented by the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance.
Since the program’s launch in 2012, nominations have poured in from students explaining why their teachers deserve special recognition. Throughout the school year, winning teachers receive a $100 United Supermarkets/Market Street/Amigos gift card and a $100 VISA gift card. The students who nominate a winning teacher also receive a $50 VISA gift card.
Teachers On The Rise is also sponsored by American National Bank, the Texas Classroom Teachers Association, KAMC-TV, 102.5 KISS-FM and News Talk 790 KFYO.
