ESPN’s Tom Luginbill was impressed with Texas Tech QB commit Jett Duffey, as he takes on the top talent in the country at The Opening — the premier high school talent showcase, being held in Oregon this week.
“I think the number one thing that stands out about him is his delivery and ability to get the ball out of his hand quickly,” said the national recruiting analyst. “He’s not going to ‘wow’ you in terms of physical measurables, he’s going to be on the shorter side.”
While the quarterback from Mansfield only stands six-feet, 180 pounds, Luginbill is impressed with Duffey’s demeanor and believes it’s his intangibles that will set him apart from the other elite talent in the country.
“With Jett you see it with how he carries himself, I think he has a little bit of a chip on his shoulder,” said Luginbill. “He’s not concerned with who’s around him, he’s not concerned with ‘oh this guy’s a big name a guy that’s got 20 offers’ — he doesn’t care about that stuff.”
“He just goes out and plays,” Luginbill continued, “and to me that might be most important than anything.”
