LUBBOCK, Texas — Part of the road at 9th Street and Quaker Avenue collapsed on Sunday, according to a statement from the City of Lubbock. The city said a portion of the roadway is still safe to drive, but part of it has been blocked by barricades. The city said repair work will begin Monday.
The City of Lubbock issued the following statement on Sunday:
Parts of the roadway near 9th Street and Quaker Avenue caved in today, after a water main burst Saturday, April 6. The City of Lubbock Water Utilities Department will be repairing the damage starting Monday, April 8. Though the inside lane is safe to drive, motorists are asked to drive with caution especially when crews are on site working.
