Xcel Energy is warning customers in the Littlefield area of attempted phone scams involving a caller making threats of arrest if the customer doesn’t pay a past-due balance over the phone.

Xcel Energy is working with local law enforcement to investigate these calls, but in the meantime, the company is reminding customers to hang up if someone calls demanding payment. Customers should then call Xcel Energy to verify account status.

Business customers should call 1-800-481-4700 and residential customers can call 1-800-895-4999. Information on avoiding scams may also be found on Xcel Energy’s website at spr.ly/scams.
