Abernathy and New Deal met at Frenship on Friday for the number 1 seed in class 2A district 4.
The Lions got out in front early, taking a 17-8 lead in the first quarter, but Abernathy came roaring back in the second, cutting the lead to just 27-25. Heading into the final quarter, New Deal led 44-43, but the Antelopes would get the win, 67-63.
New Deal will head to Dimmit on Tuesday for a matchup with Vega, while Abernathy will play Bovina.
