A Waco couple is in jail on separate charges related to a sexual assault case.
Raymond Thornton, 57, was arrested on a charge of sexual assault following a complaint made back on January 31.
The female victim, under the age of 16, had made an outcry to friends that she had been sexually assaulted and they called police.
Following an investigation and forensic interview, police obtained a warrant for the arrest of Thornton.
In the meantime, his wife, Sylvia Ann Thornton, 51, has been charged with tampering with a witness.
Waco Police spokesman Patrick Swanton says she is accused of approaching the victim and allegedly coercing her to write a letter contain a false statement saying the incident did not occur.
Both have been booked into the McLennan County Jail.
