Wind and dry air will culminate in high fire danger across the region, especially on the Caprock this afternoon. 2019 has been a very dry one and we have to be mindful of how quickly fires will spread today. The main issue is the wind. It will be sustained at 20-30 mph, with gusts reaching 40 mph at times. There will be some blowing dust, as well. Otherwise, Lubbock will be mostly sunny with a high of 81°. Tomorrow is the start of the ABC Pro Rodeo and the weather will cooporate. Skies will be sunny, with 10-15 mph wind. The high will make it to 78°.
