A reminder that the FINAL deadline for Texas consumers to enroll in health insurance for 2016 through the federal health insurance marketplace is tonight at midnight PST. Here are some things consumers should know:
Five Facts about Open Enrollment in Texas:
- Time is running out. Today is the final deadline for you to sign up at HealthCare.gov for 2016 coverage.
- Millions in Texas have already enrolled. Since Open Enrollment began on November 1, 1,174,314 Texas consumers have selected a plan or were automatically re-enrolled.
- Financial help is available. In the first month of Open Enrollment, 82 percent of Texas consumers who selected health insurance plans were determined eligible for financial assistance to lower their monthly premiums.
- There’s still time to make changes. If you had coverage in 2015 and learned that your plan was automatically renewed for 2016, you still have time to shop plans and make changes. If you find better plan for your family is available, you can change plans at any time before the end of Open Enrollment on January 31, 2016.
- Picking a plan and signing up for coverage is easier than ever. Every year we find new ways to make signing-up for a plan simpler. You can even apply on a cell phone.
