On Thursday, January 28th, Wishmakers on Campus will host a “give back” night at Blue Sky Texas. The restaurant, which has two Lubbock locations, has agreed to give a portion of its sales back to the student organization. (Although there are two Blue Sky locations, the one at 3216 4th Street is the only one participating in the fundraiser.*)
“People can get involved in any way they want, even if it’s just by coming to a ‘give back’ or an event that we hold,” Lauren Shanks, President of Wishmakers on Campus, said. “We really want the whole community to be involved in it and be knowledgeable about it.”
According to its Facebook page, Wishmakers on Campus is devoted to promoting awareness of the Make-A-Wish mission by raising funds through involving dedicated students to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Shanks explained the money raised through the Blue Sky “give back” will go toward Wishmakers on Campus’ second annual Walk for Wishes, which is scheduled for April 9th, 2016. All of the proceeds raised through the walk will then be donated to Make-A-Wish, she said.
The organization hopes to grant at least one wish with the money collected through the walk. On average, it costs about $9,000 to grant one child his or her wish through Make-A-Wish.
*You must mention “Wishmakers on Campus” when you place your order at Blue Sky in order for part of the proceeds to go to the student organization.
