Susan G. Komen® Lubbock Area will begin coordinating two discussion groups and two live webinars each month through a new local program, Connections. Komen Lubbock Area will collaborate with experts to provide information in a variety of areas, including breast cancer treatment options, effects of treatment, and healthy lifestyle. All programming is free of charge and offered to breast cancer survivors, fighters, co-survivors and caregivers.
The discussion groups will be led by licensed therapists. The webinar presenters will be experts providing information on topics, such as the effects of treatment, health and nutrition, and financial resources. Dr. Candy Arentz will begin the webinar series on Jan. 20 by discussing “Questions to ask your doctor at diagnosis.”
The live webinars will be recorded and archived on komenlubbock.org.

Connections is a multi-faceted program designed to provide support through meaningful connections to others, information and wellness, addressing the impact breast cancer has on a person’s emotional and physical health, family, co-survivors, caregivers and job responsibilities. The program will fill a need on the South Plains for resources that focus on the unique challenges that breast cancer has on family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Conceived by a local task force for Komen Lubbock Area to implement, the program is funded in part by the generosity of The CH Foundation.
