The Lady Raiders held on to defeat Iowa State in overtime 69-66 to earn their first conference win of the season. Tech improves to (10-7, 1-5 Big 12) on the season.
Texas Tech was led by junior guard Ivonne CookTaylor who earned a double-double on the afternoon, with 20 points on 10-of-20 shooting from field, along with 12 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two turnovers.
The Lady Raiders opened the third quarter on a 20-6 run, that vaulted them to a 47-36 lead.
However, the Cyclones battled back. With 1:05 remaining in regulation, Iowa State freshman guard Bridget Carleton hit a jumper to take a 59-57 lead.
But the Lady Raiders were able to knock down their free throws to extend the contest. Tech junior center Leashja Grant hit back-to-back free throws to knot the game at 61 all, and force overtime.
In the extra period, Tech senior guard Rayven Brooks hit a jumper from just in front of the restricted area to give the Lady Raiders the 67-66 advantage and Tech would close it out from there.
