The 911 system went down in Lubbock on Tuesday morning.  The public announcement was made at 9:58 a.m.  An update was made at 11:10 a.m. to say the system was restored.

“All emergency 9-1-1 network communication lines have been restored,” the city announced.

“If you have an emergency please use 9-1-1 to contact the emergency services,” the city said.  “Please do not call 9-1-1 to test your phone.”

During the outage, the Lubbock Police Department provided alternate numbers to call for an emergency. 

The following is a message from the Lubbock Police Department: 

URGENT! The 911 system for Lubbock is currently down. Until this issue is resolved, if you need police services or have an emergency please call 806-775-2811 or 806-775-2812. For @LubbockFire call 806-749-0871 for fire related emergencies only. For EMS call 806-775-8725.

In a separate LBK Alert, the city said 911 was also down for the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.  The alternate numbers for LCSO were 806-548-1761 or 806-548-6182, the LBK Alert said.  During the outage, Texas Tech said for on-campus emergencies call 806-742-3931.
