Junior right-hander Caleb Kilian of the No. 13 Texas Tech baseball team has been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

This is the first weekly pitching award for the Red Raiders this season and the first since May 22, 2017. It is also the first of Kilian’s career.

Kilian earned his first win of the season on Friday night against No. 10 Texas as he and redshirt freshman reliever Clayton Beeter combined for a one-hit shutout.

The junior went a career-long seven innings in the start, allowing only three base runners with a hit and two walks while striking out four. Only one Longhorn was able to reach scoring position against Kilian, doing so in the second inning before he got a called third strike to end the frame.

The award is the fourth Big 12 weekly honor for Tech this season. Freshman Tanner O’Tremba was named Co-Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 25, while Cameron Warren and Dylan Neuse took home Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Week accolades last week.

The Red Raiders return to home this weekend as they host No. 23 Michigan and Stetson for five games in five days. Tech opens the weekend against Michigan on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
