KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 3.8.19.
TODAY: Friday will stay cloudy, but the warmth persists. Highs will reach the 70s for most of the area today, up to 75° in Lubbock. Winds will be slightly breezy, from the southwest 10-20 mph. Tonight a cold front will move in from the west, and provide lift for a few isolated showers, with light accumulation. An isolate thunderstorm is possible as well. Temperatures will be mild overnight, dropping to the 40s.
THIS WEEKEND: After Friday night’s front, dry and breezy west wind follows for Saturday. Expect lots of sunshine with highs in the upper 60s. By Sunday, the clouds return and temperature will start to cool, with upper 50s more likely for Lubbock. There is a 10% chance of rain Sunday, more so in the southeast.
NEXT WEEK: The beginning of next week is trending cooler with clouds. Highs will be in the upper 50s and low 60s. We are still watching rain potential, with a chance of spotty showers Monday. Thunderstorms are most likely on Tuesday, where rain totals may exceed 1 inch in isolated spots. Widespread significant rain will be good news for drought conditions.
