Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to 5710 4th Street for the report of an apartment fire Thursday morning at about 11:30. Later in the day, LFR said the fire was arson.
According to a LFR spokesperson, Madeline Kaye Gurney, 56, was arrested in connection to the fire.
The fire was contained to a single unit. EMS took one person to University Medical Center with smoke inhalation.
“When released by UMC, she was arrested by investigators of the Lubbock Fire Marshal’s Office for arson,” LFR said. “Three other units sustained light smoke damage, but no other residents were displaced.”
