Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to two fires within minutes of each other just before noon – one at the Sam Remy Apartments in the 3000 block of South Loop 289 and the other at the Fort Jackson Mobile Home Park at 116th Street and University Avenue.

When crews arrived at the Sam Remy Apartments, they found a small fire in the kitchen and dining room which they quickly extinguished, according to LFR.

LFR said they determined the fire to be an accident due to cooking.

According to LFR, when crews arrived at Fort Jackson Mobile Home Park, they found a mobile home on fire along with brush and grass.

LFR said windy conditions created a situation where crews needed to protect other homes nearby. Once the fire was contained, LFR said crews extinguished the mobile home fire.

LFR is still investigating the cause of the fire.

LFR is asking anyone with information on this fire to contact the Fire Marshal’s office at 806-775-2646.

At this time, there are no reported injuries due to either fire.
