After being missing for exactly 5 years, Zoe Campos’ body was discovered by Lubbock Police nearly four months ago. While this chapter has been closed for the community and the Campos family, there are three other families waiting for word on their loved ones.
Jennifer Wilkerson, Maegan Hembree, and Linda Wilhite are three cases that still have plenty of unanswered questions.
Their families, like Zoe’s, continue to plead for the community’s help to solve the cases.
Jennifer Wilkerson
According to sheriff’s deputies, Jennifer didn’t show up for work one morning in mid-July of 2004. The last 14 years have given deputies a few leads, but only dead ends.
“You can’t steal 26 years of loving someone,” said Vikki Wilkerson, Jennifer’s mom, back in 2017.
Six years ago, a tip led them to Mound Lake. Someone told deputies they helped dispose her body in that area, but no proof or evidence was ever found.
“You take a deep breath and go on keeping on until we find her or find answers,” Wilkerson said.
Maegan Hembree
Maegan left her home in Smyer to go to a friend’s house in Lubbock nearly 6 years ago on February 26th, according to previous reporting. Nobody heard from her again.
Jerry Hembree, Maegan’s father, said they have put their faith in God because without that faith, you have nothing.
“I understand what comes from heartbroken, absolute heartbroken grief,” Hembree said.
According to deputies, Michael Todd Ramsey was the last person seen with Maegan. They said he’s a person of interest in her disappearance, but he’s in prison for unrelated charges.
“I’ve tried to approach him and talk to him, yes,” Hembree said. “He’s refused every time. He’s just refused.”
Her family said they will continue fighting to tell her story through the years.
“She’s not forgotten and this is not settled and this is not over,” said her mother, Robbie, in 2018.
Linda Wilhite
Linda disappeared in August of 2016 and an abundant amount of her blood was found where she lives, according to police. They said it was so much blood, it is unlikely she is alive.
“Oh lord, do you know a woman that doesn’t like to go shopping? She walked through those doors. Not to spend a dime! Just looking at things,” said Lonnie Wilhite, Linda’s brother.
He said he only has happy memories with his sister.
“She liked the same things. Now, once a week regardless of what’s happening. She made sure that we went out to eat some place,” he said.
Her son, Kody Climer, lived with her and police said he killed her because she didn’t give him thousands of dollars. His trial is expected to start in a few weeks.
Wilhite said he’s not going to the trial.
“Hard feelings,” he said. “There’s nothing else I can do. You can’t change the past. It is what it is. He asked for this. He’s going to get what he deserves.”
Law enforcement has yet to fully close any of the three cases. They said they need someone to come forward to help them find these women.
