KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 2.5.19.
TODAY: High clouds are moving into the region this morning, and the sky will stay mostly cloudy today. Temperatures will remain above average this afternoon, up to 72° in Lubbock. The Caprock will be in the low 70s, and upper 70s are expected in the Rolling Plains. Today will be breezy, with wind increasing to 20 mph from the southwest. Tonight will be cloudy and mild, with a 10% chance of sprinkles or light rain. Overnight lows will dip to the 40s.
TOMORROW: Another mild day, with a high of 70° is expected Wednesday. But, the wind and dry air returns. Expect sustained winds 20-35 mph, gusting to 50 mph or higher. Blowing dust will be a hazard, especially in the afternoon hours.
LOOKING AHEAD: Temperatures will fall by the end of the week, with the first push of cold air expected Thursday. We will likely just make it to 50° in Lubbock Thursday. Friday will be chilly, with highs in the low to mid 40s. The cold air sticks around through Saturday.
