KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 2.1.19.

TODAY: Happy Friday! A beautiful day is in store for the region, with high temperatures over 10 degrees above average. The forecast for Lubbock today is 67°. The wind will generally be light today from the south 5-10 mph. There will be increasing cloud cover today, with a weak low pressure system arriving from the desert southwest today. This will leave tonight mostly cloudy, with a sprinkle possible. Temperatures this evening will drop to the mid 40s, which is quite mild this time of year.

THIS WEEKEND: On Saturday, expect the clouds to clear out and temperatures to stay warm. The forecast high for Lubbock is 68° Saturday. Sunday we expect another boost of warm air, up to 20 degrees above average, at 76° in Lubbock. With this rapid warming, the breeze will pick up as well. Keep in mind your Superbowl grilling may get gusty.

NEXT WEEK: Warm air sticks around for the beginning of next week with 70° through Tuesday. Then, the Storm Team is tracking the next cold front now by Thursday. There is still some uncertainty in the timing of this next cool down, so we will keep you advised.
