A video depicting an adult pulling a child’s hair while another adult laughed and recorded it, surfaced on social media on Thursday. The parents of 3-year-old Amyra Wilson said they’re angry.
“She was physcially abused by an adult and someone that we paid to place for her safety,” said LaQuitta Wilson, Amyra’s mother. “They had no apology. They had no reason. They did not call me. Like I said, everything hit the fan and it’s like they just had nothing to say.”
The viral video taking place at My Little Playhouse Learning Center leaked on Thursday, but multiple parents, including Wilson, said it happened weeks ago. However, Wilson said she found out her daughter was in this video at the same time as the public.
“I was not contacted by the daycare first,” Wilson said.
Amyra is healthy, according to the family, but they are not satisifeid with how the daycare handled the situation.
“We want any legal action that can happen, any legal action that happened to her, like jail time,” said Martreal Walker, Amyra’s father.
According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services website, the daycare center had 19 violations since 2016, ranging from deficiencies in areas free from hazards to reaching their documented annual training.
While this happened to young Amyra, her grandmother is hoping to give other parents some words of wisdom.
“Make sure that the people that are working there has no criminal background because if they’ll do it to a child, they’ll do it to the elderly. So we just want to make sure this never happens to another child,” said Shanna Walker, the grandmother.
