TODAY: A warming trend begins today, with afternoon temperatures reaching the 60s all across the South Plains region. The forecast for Lubbock is 64 degrees today. Winds will stay light or slightly breezy, from the southwest 10-15 mph. The sky will be sunny all day, with a few high clouds moving in this evening into overnight. Temperatures tonight will drop to the mid 30s and will likely stay above freezing for Lubbock.
TOMORROW: 70s are back in the forecast! Downsloping wind from New Mexico will compress and accelerate, heating the air in the South Plains and bring a breeze. Winds will be sustained 15-25 mph, with gusts in the 30 mph range. The forecast high for Lubbock is 73 degrees Wednesday.
LOOKING AHEAD: 70s and breezy winds continue Thursday. The winds peak on Friday, with gusts possible in the 40 mph range. Friday a cold front moves in through the evening, leaving the weekend cooler, yet dry. Weekend temperatures will be in the upper 50s and low 60s, with breezy conditions.
