Losing weight could reduce a woman’s chance of developing breast cancer after menopause, according to a study published in the journal “Cancer.” It found postmenopausal women who shed pounds saw a 12% reduction in breast cancer risk, while women who gained weight, had a 54% higher chance of developing a rare form of the disease
New research may change the way doctors treat the most common, curable sexually transmitted disease. Doctors at Tulane found women who received multiple doses of an antibiotic were half as likely to still be infected with Trichomoniasis compared to those who only got a single dose. The disease can cause serious birth complications.
The annual price tag for nonfatal injuries in the U.S. has topped 1.8 trillion dollars. To reach that figure, researchers at Brown University analyzed hospital visits from the year 2013. The majority of the 31 million injuries that year were caused by falls or being hit by an object.
