The following is a news release from the South Plains Food Bank:
Breedlove Food Inc. will donate more than 1.6 million servings of food to the South Plains Food Bank. The product being donated promotes energy and brain development, which will help the 1 in 4 kids who are food insecure across the food bank’s 20-county service area.
Breedlove and the South Plains Food Bank have deep roots. Once a combined organization, Breedlove was created by the SPFB over 20 years ago. Both organizations are committed to ending hunger for those who need it most, however, Breedlove’s focus also includes the international crisis of hunger. Now separate entities, both are still strong supporters of one another.
“Breedlove has always been near and dear to the South Plains Food Bank’s heart,” David Weaver, CEO of the SPFB said. “We have always had the same goal; ending hunger for as many individuals as we possibly can, and we both do that extremely well in our own ways.”
Breedlove Foods, Inc. is a nonprofit committed to alleviating hunger by developing and producing dehydrated and ready-to-use food specifically engineered to feed the world’s most vulnerable. Through a global network of partners, Breedlove provides innovative, low-cost food aid to help mitigate hunger both around the world and here at home.
For over two decades, Breedlove Food Inc. has distributed more than 2 billion servings of food to communities both local and abroad. With their 25-year anniversary quickly approaching, this donation will begin their celebration efforts of their dedicated service to more than 70 countries.
“Breedlove’s mission is to find the right partners to help us fight hunger internationally and within the Lubbock region,” said Bill Miller, CEO of Breedlove Food Inc. “We have a great partner in the South Plains Food Bank. This donation of over 1.6 million meal servings will help those in need in our community and provide innovative support to the South Plains Food Bank.”
More than 100,000 bags of the vegetable blend product will be delivered to the SPFB and unloaded at the warehouse on Thursday, September 13th at 10 a.m. Breedlove will also be providing examples of recipes the vegetable blend can be used to make.
