KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 8.23.18.
TODAY: Thursday will be hot! The forecast high for Lubbock is 96 degrees. Most of the Caprock will make it to the mid 90s, some area east of the Caprock will near or be at 100 today. Winds will turn to a southwesterly direction and increase today 10-15 mph with gusts possible near 20 mph. The sky will remain mostly clear.
TOMORROW: Another hot day is expected to wrap up the week! Expect 97 degrees in Lubbock on Friday. The hottest conditions will be east of the Caprock, and cooler low 90s are expected near the Texas and New Mexico state line. It is in our northwest region that there is a slight chance of showers, with an isolated rain chance for Lubbock. Winds will be slightly breezy from the southwest.
THIS WEEKEND: Remaining warm and dry this weekend, between 94-95 degrees in Lubbock. The sky will remain mostly clear, but winds will calm down a bit. If you are planning outdoor activities, don’t forget the water bottle and sunscreen!
