A historic aircraft crashed while taking off from Burnet Municipal Airport Saturday morning after a pilot lost control.

There were 14 people on board. The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook that all passengers were able to exit the plane. One person was airlifted to the hospital with “significant burn injuries” and seven others were transported with minor injuries.

Federal Aviation Administration officials say the pilot of the Bluebonnet Belle veered to the left side of the runway before hitting the ground and catching on fire at 9:18 a.m. Flames also spread to nearby grass but the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office says the fire is out.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials confirmed it was the antique twin-engine plane produced during World War II. DPS is securing the scene.
