LUBBOCK, Texas — A two-alarm fire at an apartment complex Sunday morning claimed the life of one and injured two others, according to Lubbock Fire Rescue.

The fire was reported just before 10:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of 65th Drive at the River Oaks Villa Apartments.

A social media post by LFR said 16 units in the apartment complex were damaged.

There was one confirmed fatality of a civilian at the scene.

Two other individuals suffered minor injuries and were transported by EMS to a local hospital.

Representatives with the Red Cross assisted residents displaced by the fire and others affected the electricity was shut off.

LFR said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Lubbock Police Department blocked traffic in the area of the fire.

An emergency notification from LPD said 64th Street through 66th Street, between Avenue P and Avenue L, was closed for a unspecified amount time.
