The following is a news release from the Lubbock Police Department:

Detectives with the Lubbock Police Department are investigating a murder that occurred late Friday night. At this time, investigators are still searching for information on the suspect or suspects involved.

On July 13th, at approximately 11:50 p.m., the Lubbock Police Department received reports of shots fired in the 300 block of 79th Street. Responding officers located a male gunshot victim outside a home with life threatening injuries.

The victim was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

LPD detectives with the Persons Crimes Unit and investigators with the Texas Anti-Gang Center (TAG) responded to the area to immediately to begin an investigation and search for possible witnesses and evidence.

Through the investigation, it appears the victim was shot during a dispute with another person.
