Happy Monday everyone! It has a spectacular start to July with an abundance of rain falling across the region! We officially received 0.27” at LIA but some locations in the South Plains received over two inches! This puts us above average for the month and a little closer to average for the year. This has also allowed for partly sunny conditions throughout the day today but that will change quickly beginning tomorrow. Showers will clear out early tomorrow morning, leaving us with lots of sunshine and hot temperatures just in time for your 4th of July holiday! Temperatures will remain in the upper 90’s and triple digits for the next two days with a minor cool down into the low 90’s beginning on Thursday. This will be associated with our next chance for showers and thunderstorms that will begin on Thursday and continue through Saturday. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours! Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated throughout the day.
