Texas Tech solidified its spot in the College Baseball World Series after beating Duke University after three games. It is the third time the team will make an appearance in the World Series in five years.

“This is what you come to work for, this what y’all work for all year long, to see the success of our teams and our student athletes, and so for the third time in the last five years, we’re packing up and going to Omaha,” said Robert Giovannetti, senior associate athletics director.

However, if you are trying to see the game in person, you might want to look into booking a flight, or searching for a group of friends to make the road trip with. Texas Tech will not be providing to buses to the game due to logistics.

“It’s just because it’s summer school and all that, it’s hard to put all those things together. We’ll still have a certain number of tickets available for students to purchase that they can purchase at a student rate,” said Giovannetti.

Student tickets will be available from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Texas Tech Ticket Office on the southeast side of Jones AT&T Stadium, according to Tech Athletics. They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis until all tickets are sold.

Whether you are making the drive, or just watching it on the big screen, you can still show off your Red Raider pride as stores including the Matador are releasing apparel for the championship.

“There is so much energy in the fan base right now,” said Steve Massengale, CEO of the Matador. “We’ve seen that overnight in our internet orders, and we’ve already pre-booked orders anticipating that they would go to Omaha.”

While some might be worried that a premature purchase of ‘championship’ apparel might jinx their chances, Giovannetti says he’s not worried.

“It’s hard to get to Omaha. There’s a lot of great teams wishing that they were going to be in Omaha,” said Giovannetti. “And so I don’t think superstition has anything to do with that, I think that hard work, perseverance and talent is what gets you to Omaha.”
