Happy Thursday everyone! Severe weather season is in full swing and with the dry line set up along the Texas/New Mexico border for the fourth day this week, strong to severe storms will begin to fire up as early as 3PM and will impact the region through about 9PM. Biggest threats will be large hail, damaging wind gusts 70+MPH, localized heavy rainfall (flooding), and an isolated tornado threat. The setup is very similar to what we saw on Tuesday so make sure to stay weather aware throughout the evening hours. Rain chances will diminish by early tomorrow morning and we will only see an isolated chance of storms Friday afternoon. Temperatures will remain hot through Saturday but there is a large cool down in our near future. This will start on Saturday evening as a strong cold front pushes across the region. Along with the cool down, it will bring yet another chance for some showers and thunderstorms. Despite our storm chances throughout the next 5 days we will still see abundant sunshine so it is imperative to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated as well.
