Emergency crews were called to a crash between a car and a semi-truck just after 10:00 a.m. Monday.
The crash was at the intersection of Highway 87 and Farm to Market Road 41.
The Texas Department of Public Safety provided an update more than hour after the crash. DPS said the two drivers suffered serious injuries. They were both taken to Lubbock hospitals.
DPS said a passenger car pulled into the path of the semi which was carrying a propane tanker.
A hazmat crew was also called to the scene. The plan was to remove the propane from the truck onto another tanker.
DPS said more information including the names of the two drivers would be provided later.
Traffic along Highway 87 south of Lubbock could be impacted for several hours.
