The Scurry County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday announced new charges in a previous homicide case.
In January 2016, the bodies of Benjamyn Leslee Bruns, 29, of Victoria and Joshua David Hoover, 25, of Snyder were found underneath a home in Snyder. The two had been stabbed and shot.
In 2016, Juan Barron, 26, and Jamai Nicole Dabney, 31, were arrested for tampering with evidence. But at that time, they were not charged with murder.
On Thursday, SCSO said Barron was arrested on four indictments. Two indictments were for murder. One was for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one was for tampering with evidence.
SCSO said Dabney was arrested on four indictments. Her indictments were for murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, and manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.
According to official statements, Barron and Dabney told police that two people broke into their home. Snyder Police believed there was a break-in, but they thought it was a targeted attack, not a random burglary.
Barron and Dabney did not report the break-in or the violence until later. And they moved the bodies to underneath their house, officials said.
