President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced via Twitter that he will nominate a Levelland man as the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Doctor Ronny L. Jackson was born and raised in Levelland.

Trump said, “I am pleased to announce that I intend to nominate highly respected Admiral Ronny L. Jackson, MD, as the new Secretary of Veterans Affairs….”

Trump continued “….In the interim, Hon. Robert Wilkie of DOD will serve as Acting Secretary. I am thankful for Dr. David Shulkin’s service to our country and to our GREAT VETERANS!”

Jackson is the White House Physician.  There was no word yet on whether Jackson would continue in that role while also doing his new job at Veterans Affairs.

Jackson has been White House Physician since 2006 – meaning he has served under presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Trump.
