Avery Travis is a proud Texan! Originally from Dallas, she’s excited to explore this side of her state.

She joined the KAMC News team as a reporter in June 2017.

She attended the University of Texas at Austin, with a degree in Broadcast Journalism,so she’s a Longhorn at heart. Don’t worry Red Raider fans, she’ll wear red and black on occasion.

During her time at UT, Avery interned at CBS News in New York City — covering the 2016 presidential election and working with CBSN, the network’s digital streaming service.

Avery also interned with KXAN in Austin, TX in the Investigative Unit. Throughout college, she also reported for Texas Student Television, co-hosting the station’s first political talk show.

Avery was awarded several scholarships and honors for her work as a student journalist, including from the Radio Television Digital Foundation and the Headliners Foundation of Texas.

Outside the newsroom, you can probably find Avery listening to music, kickboxing, or reading and enjoying a cup of coffee at a coffee shop.

Avery’s passion is storytelling, and she can’t wait to hear from the people here on the South Plains. Feel free to reach out with story ideas at atravis@kamc.tv.
