Happy Thursday everyone! It has been yet another beautiful and sunny day across the South Plains with highs jumping back into the mid to upper 80’s. This warming trend will continue for one more day with highs moving into the low 90’s on Friday. The other thing that will increase on Friday is the wind speeds bringing blowing dust and more potential for fire weather. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the region from 1PM – 9PM on Friday. Winds are expected to be between 20-40MPH so make sure to be cautious while barbecuing and to put cigarettes out properly.
Over the weekend we will see a small cool down due to our next cold front that is expected to arrive late Friday night into early Saturday morning. Temperatures will drop into the low to mid 80’s on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and we are watching for an isolated chance for showers over the second half of the weekend. Then a second front will arrive Tuesday into Wednesday bringing another cool down and another chance for some much needed rain so make sure to stay tuned for updates!
