The City of Lubbock Health Department said clinics have reported an uptick in flu cases here in the Hub City from previous weeks.
“Nationally were still seeing flu wide spread. Here in Lubbock we’ve seen an increase just from what we’ve seen from last week,” Katherine Wells, the Director of Public Health for the City of Lubbock Health Department said.
Wells said there have been no reported cases of death linked to the flu in Lubbock. The latest data from CDC showed 16 more children have died from the flu, across the country, just last week.
“Its just been a harsher flu season. It hit hard really early. I expect it to continue for the next couple of weeks,” Wells said.
Wells said since this flu season is expected to continue they encourage people to go and get their flu shot.
“Doctors and pharmacies have a good stock if people still want to get the shot,” Wells said.
