The Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains, Inc. has received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of West Texas to fund a new server and a new telephone system for the organization.
The Children’s Advocacy Center is a nonprofit organization serving 15 counties. Established in 1998, the mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains is to bring together community resources to speed the healing of child victims of abuse and trauma.
In 2017, 761 children and their caregivers received services free of charge from the center including 761 forensic interviews, over 800 specialized trauma focused therapy sessions.
The center has delivered the Yello Dyno anti-victimization and safety program to 3175 children pre-K through 4th grade. 302 adults have received Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and the Role of the CAC trainings. The center has facilitated bi-monthly reviews for 488 clients by the centers MDT-multidisciplinary team members.
The Community Foundation of West Texas grant will be used to replace the center’s outdated and failing telephone phone system which was installed in the late 1990s and to install a private server for use by both the main office and therapy facilities.
The new telephones and server will aid the staff in both facilities to more efficiently serve the confidential needs of all clients across the 15 county service area.
