Las Cruces Police said a man became so enraged when his host ran out of beer, he stabbed him Saturday evening.

Isaac Avalos, 23, is facing one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bond at the Doña Ana County Detention Center.

According to court documents, Avalos was hanging out with a friend in the 1900 block of Wyoming around 5:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The two men and a woman were in the backyard when Avalos went to grab a beer and found out that they’d run out.

Avalos allegedly became upset and the two began to fight in the kitchen. He later pulled out a 12-inch serrated kitchen knife and swung it back and forth, stabbing the victim.

On his way out of the apartment, Avalos allegedly grabbed a 32″ TV sitting by the door and fled the scene, almost running over the victim and his girlfriend.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Avalos was located by LCPD Saturday evening and taken into custody.
