Happy Tuesday everyone! The backdoor cold front continues to remain stalled out over the region and it has brought us some cooler temperatures this afternoon. Tonight will be the big headliner in the forecast as this front finally starts to push out of the region with wintry precipitation following in behind it. It will also bring a surge of cold air that will drop low temperatures into the low 30’s tomorrow morning. Right now Lubbock looks like it will remain above the freezing mark but areas to the North will not be quite as lucky. We are expecting a mixture of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain to fall across the South Plains late tonight through early tomorrow morning. Therefore, make sure to bring your pets and potted plants indoors this evening, leave with extra time to spare on Wednesday morning in case roads are icy, and turn off your sprinklers for the next two days. Afternoon highs will only reach into the mid-40’s on Wednesday afternoon but we have warmer temperatures expected for the second half of the work week along with abundant sunshine.
