The following is press release from the Ninth Judicial District Attorney:
Ninth Judicial District Attorney Andrea Reeb announced that on October 16, 2017, Omar Millrans, age 42, of Clovis, was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Millrans was convicted by a Curry County jury on August 22, 2017, of Trafficking Controlled Substances, a second degree felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2 counts; Dangerous Drugs for Sale; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On May 31, 2017, Millrans was transported to the Clovis Police Department for an interview. The officer later discovered a baggie of methamphetamine that Millrans left in the back seat. Millrans was arrested during a routine traffic stop on April 2, 2017. A search warrant on the vehicle yielded two separate baggies of meth, and numerous prescription drugs which were not prescribed to Millrans. A search warrant was also executed on his cell phone and law enforcement found messages to at least five individuals in which Millrans was setting up buys for meth, hydrocodone, xanax, and morphine.
The Honorable Drew Tatum presided over the case and sentenced the defendant to 30.5 years in DOC, suspended 14.5 for a total of 16 years in the Department of Corrections. The sentence was enhanced due to prior felony convictions out of Texas and Nebraska. Upon release from prison, Millrans will serve 5 years of intensive supervised probation.
Assistant District Attorney Kristen Beltran prosecuted the case for the State of New Mexico. Criminal defense attorney Jonathan C. Miller of Albuquerque represented the defendant.
