The number of Americans with diabetes continued to rise, topping 25 million in 2015. But a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine found doctors are doing a better job with screening and diagnosis. Still, about 11 percent of diabetes cases go undiagnosed, most often in overweight patients.

Senior citizens often worry about winter as the most likely time to get hurt in a fall, but a study at the Hospital of Central Connecticut found the majority of hip fractures happen during the warm months. It also found 76 percent of them occur indoors. Researchers said the most common threat is tripping over a rug and the second leading cause is falling out of bed.

Though it’s better known for treating wrinkles, BOTOX may bring significant relief to children and teenagers with migraines. A study at U.C. Irvine tracked young people who do not respond to traditional medicines. It found those treated with Botox injections had fewer headaches and that they were less painful.
