Lubbock’s concert for peace will be Friday at Mackenzie Park from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m.
In an effort to bring the community together, the Lubbock Peace Rally will have live music from all genres coming together and uniting in peace to put on a great show for people on the South Plains.
The rally was created by members of the band Element with the idea of teaching people to treat others with respect and honor regardless of race, religion, color or gender. They hope to set a standard of equality for the future generations.
Upon hearing about how CASA volunteers make an impact in this community, Steve Sanders with the band Element, knew he wanted to partner with CASA of the South Plains so they can continue to serve foster children in this area.
Proceeds from the concert will go to CASA of the South Plains so they can train more advocates to be a voice for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. Communications Director, Gabe Ballesteros, said the need for more advocates is high.
“All of our CASA volunteers make a tremendous impact in the lives of the children they serve,” Ballesteros said. “They make sure every single foster child that is a part of their case have a voice while in the foster care system and make sure their needs are a priority while they are in care.”
CASA of the South Plains is currently enrolling for its final advocate training program of the year. Enrollment is open through October 30.
