August’s Star of the Month is Sgt. Tim Lennon with the Lubbock Police Department. Lennon has been an officer with the Lubbock Police Department for 14 years.

Lennon is a husband and father of five. He was recently diagnosed with stage two prostate cancer. He said the support his family has received is getting them through this difficult time.

“I usually do not tell people when things are wrong,” Lennon said. “I don’t usually ask for anything and keep it in house with my family, but the support has really floored me and has been really overwhelming.”

Sgt. Lennon works security for the All Saints Episcopal Schools and said the children there really brighten his day.

“They are always happy to see me and giving me high fives,” Lennon said. “The All Saints families have shown overwhelming support for me. I’ve gotten cards in the mail and it’s been really awesome.”

Lennon has a message to all men about taking their health seriously.

“Go to the doctor,” Lennon said. “That’s a major thing. Men do not want to go to the doctor. They think it will pass, but as you get older things become a lot more serious.”
