Accident Investigators with the Lubbock Police Department are investigating an overnight crash that resulted in a home catching fire.

At approximately 2 a.m. Friday, a 23-year-old male was driving a SUV south in the 200 block of Redbud Avenue. He lost control of the vehicle and hit a curb. The SUV then flipped onto its side and collided with a parked vehicle in a driveway.

The force caused both vehicles to crash into the home. When Lubbock Fire and Rescue arrived on scene, both vehicles were on fire which caused the house to also catch fire.

The family inside the home heard the crash and got out of the home safely when they noticed the fire. As firefighters worked to put out the fire, an officer evacuated nearby neighbors from their homes for safety.

“Standing across the street and watching everything we’ve worked hard for, watching my girls cry, looking at everything we own…burning,” said the victim, Kecia Osby.  “My car, the house, everything.”

According to LFR one room of the home is heavily damaged from the fire and vehicles. There is also heavy smoke damage throughout the home.

“I don’t have anyway to describe it except maybe empty…because that’s kind of what it feels like right now,” said Osby.

The family has lost almost everything. They’re now working to put back together the pieces.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with injuries.. Charges are pending for this investigation.
