Beginning Tuesday, July 25, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close US 385 to traffic to allow Lubbock and Western Railroad (LBWR) to safely perform repair work on the railroad crossing in the city of Brownfield.

The work is part of a $57,600 project to replank the crossing with LBWR crews replacing the existing railroad planks with new concrete planks. TxDOT crews will also perform work to rebuild the approach and departure sections of the crossing to allow for a smoother roadway transition across the railroad crossing.

US 385 traffic will be detoured around the work area via David Bailey Road to FM 2066 then back to US 62/82.

The repair work is expected to be completed and the road reopened to traffic by Friday, July 28.

Once work on the US 385 crossing is completed, LBWR will make repairs to the railroad crossing at SH 137, near Webb Street. SH 137 traffic will be detoured at US 82 east to US 62.

Work will take place weather permitting.
