Well, we ended up seeing natural fireworks last night as showers and thunderstorms moved through the area at about the time we were supposed to be celebrating Independence Day. That is ok, because Lubbock broke a daily rainfall record on Tuesday as we received 1.25″! I can’t rule out an isolated storm in the area this afternoon. Otherwise, we’re going to see mostly sunny skies, with Lubbock reaching a high temperature of 92°.
A ridge of high pressure will move over the area by tomorrow. That is going to bring in more sunshine and keep things dry. Showers and storms will rotate around our area and will affect locations just east of the Rolling Plains. With light wind tomorrow and sunny skies, Lubbock will expect to see a high of 93°. That is actually right on the average for July 6, so that is nice to see. It would only be better if we saw more rain!
