An Amarillo woman fought back against an attacker Friday morning. Jessica Collins said she was punched in the face by a man while she was trying to retrieve a phone charger from her car.
However, Collins fought back by stabbing the man in the neck with her car keys. She went back to her apartment and called police.
Police confirmed that Collins reported the incident, and they are looking for the public’s help in finding the man.
Police said he is between 5’7″ and 6″ feet tall, has a mustache, and was wearing dark clothing.
Collins said this wasn’t the first time she had been attacked, she says the previous attack was while she lived in California.
Since then, she said she had been looking up ways to protect herself in case a similar situation happened again.
Collins said, “There’s these girls out there that are scared, they think that they can’t fight back. Something as simple as a key could save their lives. I wanted to spread the word out there so it doesn’t end up worse like it had for me in the past and like it has happened to several women. I want them to say, ‘No. I won’t be another victim.’”
