A new study found only one in four teens and young adults addicted to opioids receive prescription medicine to treat their addiction. Boston researchers looked at insurance records for nearly 21,000 young opioid addiction patients. They found doctors prescribed two common treatment drugs only about a third of the time.

Researchers in the Netherlands have begun a trial to test a new vaccine that could prevent cardiovascular disease. The vaccine had already proven it lowers cholesterol 53 percent in tests on mice that were fed a fatty American diet.

The more diverse a middle school, the greater the well-being of all the students, according to a new UCLA study. Researchers said when multiple ethnic groups are about the same size in a school, no group is likely to exert influence over another.
